Thirza Beck Devlin
Rome lost one of the finest and most respected citizens, this in the death this week of Thirza Beck Devlin. Thirza and John R. Devlin were married on February 25, 1962. They raised two children in Rome, a daughter Jayn Sara and a son David Reinhold.
Thirza was born to Albert and Susan Beck on September 14, 1933. She studied arts and sciences throughout her school years and whose name has been synonymous with the arts community. She was a respected photographer for over 30 years and had won local and statewide awards. She won numerous awards throughout her career. Thirza was published in national books and was well recognized as a distinguished photographer.
John and Thirza spent years camping, and in later years, boating aboard their 66’ Sea Ray boat “Incentive”. Their family was enriched by the years spent together as a family enjoying each other’s time.
She leaves behind her son David, (his wife and daughter) Aimee and Willa; grandchildren, Gabrielle (Paul) Trela, Andrew (Rebecca Stanford) Eggan, Anna Eggan; great grandchildren, Delaney Trela and Tessa Eggan; a son-in-law Mark Eggan. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Jayn in 2016.
Funeral services will be celebrated on Wednesday morning at 11am at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. Private interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Relatives and friends may call on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 11 at the funeral home. Masks and social distancing required.
