Sydney G. Girven

Sydney G. Girven, 67, of Rome, passed away unexpectedly on, Tuesday, February 6, 2024.

Sydney was born in Meshoppen PA on September 17, 1956, the son of the late Sidney and Beverly Girven. He attended Holland Patent schools, served our country during the Vietnam War, and was a former Griffiss AFB firefighter. On May 14, 1988, Sydney married the former Laurie MacPherson, a blessed union of 35 years. He enjoyed working on old cars and going to car shows.

Surviving is his beloved wife Laurie, daughters and sons-in law Danielle and Dwayne Korpolinski, Bobbi-Jo and Scott Kahl, Amanda and Jason Grimm; sons and daughters in-law Sean and Cassandra Girven, Joel and Michelle Girven; and several grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Bryan and Sheryl Girven, Todd and Fran Girven, Jeff and Adia Girven, and Karen Girven. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother Mike Girven.

A graveside vigil will be held in the spring at the discretion of the family. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street
