Rodolfo “Rudy” Reali

Rodolfo “Rudy” Reali, 91, of Rome, passed away on December 7, 2021 at Rome Memorial Hospital and went to be with the Lord.

He was born on December 16, 1929 in Amsterdam, NY, a son of Filippo and Lucia Pompi Reali. On November 3, 2001 in Zion Episcopal Church, he married Shirley Bagnall. He graduated from Amsterdam High School. He proudly served with the US Air Force during the Korean War (1951-1955).

Rudy worked at GAFB Quality Control PMEL Lab and later drove bus for the Office of the Aging. His hobbies were golfing, bowling, Bocce and he enjoyed harness racing. He was a member of the Toccolana Club, Sleepy Hollow Golf Course, the VFW and the Zion Episcopal Church, serving as an usher.

He is survived by his beloved family, his wife Shirley, daughters, son and daughter-in-law; Diane Munn of VA., Judith Riolo of Rome, and Anthony “Tony” (Charlene) Reali of Carthage; step children, Donald (Lois) Wiggins of MI., Robert (Colleen) Wiggins of Hornell, Richard (Cindy) Wiggins of Rome, Linda McElroy of Vernon, David (Lisa) Wiggins of Rome and Joanne (Robert) Garafalo of Liverpool; 34 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren and a sister Carol Wojcik of Schenectady. He was predeceased by a wife Dixie L. Ussery Reali (6/15/1999), Michael C. Reali (1/13/1999), Frank Reali, Rose Reali Shang and John Reali.

He was a wonderful husband, loving father and grandfather who gave unconditional love. He had a yearning for life and who was forever young spirited. Rodolfo greatly enjoyed sharing stories of his life journeys. You could always find him tinkering around the house trying to fix things while helping others. He will be missed and cherished by all who had the honor of being a part of his life including his little dog “Ralphie”.

A service will be held in the spring. There will be no calling hours.

Funeral services are entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
