Lucille J. Froio
Lucille J. “Lucy” Froio, age 84, of Rome, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2022.
Lucy was born in Rome on December 13, 1937, a daughter of John and Josephine Ragonese DeMario. On June 16, 1956 in St. John the Baptist Church, she married Bernard F. Froio, a blessed union of 66 years until his passing on July 23, 2008.
The majority of her career was spent as a beautician, but she also spent many years working in the school cafeteria while living in New Jersey. Lucy was an avid NY Yankees fan, a passion she shared with her late husband, and enjoyed cooking. Her kitchen was always open!
Lucy is survived by her children Joanne Johnson, Diane & David Smith of Rome; Bernie Jr. & Marie Froio of NJ, AnnMarie DeBlasiis and her fiancée Bill of Rome; grandchildren Amanda & Jeb Benson, Willow & Mike Devine, Lucas Johnson, Leigh & Jimmy O’Connor, David & Breann Smith, Brennan Froio, Amadeo DeBlasiis Jr., Andrew DeBlasiis; 10 great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law and sister-in-law Joseph & Patty Froio. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Jessica DeBlasiis, Phyliss & Anthony “Tokes” Ciccotti, and Sam & Marge DeMario.
The family would like to give special thanks to nieces Mindy Marino, Marissa Ciccotti, Michelle Corigliano, and to Dr. Desai and his staff at Faxton Hospital Cancer Center, for their kindness, care, and compassion.
Funeral services will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, June 24, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Private burial will be at St. John’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. John’s Endowment Fund, 210 E. Dominick St, Rome.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street.
