Joseph Stevens Jr.

Joseph Stevens Jr., 73, of Rome, passed away on Friday, May 27, 2022 with his loving family by his side.
Joseph was born on January 12, 1949 in Rome to Joseph Sr. and Rose Bova Stevens. He attended Rome schools and graduated from RFA, Class of 1968. On July 8, 1972 he married Cheryl A. Virgili at St. Patrick’s Church, Taberg, and they would have celebrated their 50th anniversary this year.
Joseph was employed by Revere Copper & Brass. He was a gentle soul and the best grandfather ever. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, fishing and bowling. He was deeply loved by his family and will be truly missed.
Joe is survived by his loving family, his beloved wife Cheryl; children, April and Ed Pforts of Mt. Union IA, Nancy Jo Conover Colangelo and Robert Santello of Wilmington NC, Jennifer and Shane Riolo and Joseph Stevens III of Rome; grandchildren Dale Taylor, Talia Colangelo, Antonio Colangelo, “Papa’s buddy” Noah Riolo and Lily Riolo; He had several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents, his brother Anthony Stevens, and daughter Melissa Stevens. He will especially missed by his grandpups, Rosie and Vader. A special thank- you to his two nieces, Tracy Madonia and Bernice Vona, who were with him and helped with his care.
Funeral Services will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Friday, June 3, 2022 at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick Street for a Mass of Christian Burial, with Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. There will be no calling hours. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
