Joseph S. Iacovissi
Joseph S. Iacovissi, 87, of Rome, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Utica.
Joseph was born in Rome on March 16, 1935, the son of the late Amato Iacovissi and Mary Assissi Iacovissi. He attended Rome schools and graduated from Rome Free Academy in 1953. Joseph proudly served in the United States Army from 1957-1959, receiving an Honorable Discharge. On June 21, 1958, he married Darlene Miller in San Antonio TX, a blessed union of 64 years. He was a Firefighter for the City of Rome and also a co-owner of Rome Amusement Co. He enjoyed golfing, puttering around the house and yard, and loved spending time with his family. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Joseph is survived by his wife Darlene; daughters, Lisa Spencer and Jodi Brown; sons and daughters-in-law Kenneth (Tina) Iacovissi, Thomas (Christine) Iacovissi and Joseph Iacovissi; grandchildren, Michael and Lindsay Spencer, Daniel Brown, Hunter (Nora) Brown, Lauren and Brandon Iacovissi, Dustin and Jenner Iacovissi, Joseph and Dominic Iacovissi, and Kyle and Courtney McNett; great-grandchildren, Atlas, Arrow, and Audrey. He is also survived by his brother Enrico (Debra) Iacovissi; sister-in-law Yvonne Iacovissi Haddad; and special friends Dave and Sherrie Kingwater, Herman Campanaro, Richard Bottini, Geno Gizzi, Paul Uvanni, and Jimmy DiCastro. Joseph is predeceased by his parents, son Michael Iacovissi, brother Anthony Iacovissi, and sister Assunta Rotolo.
Funeral services will be celebrated with a Mass of Christian Burial on Thursday, July 14, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with the Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio as celebrant. Calling hours will be Wednesday July 13, 2022 from 4-7 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 West Embargo Street.
