 James “Jim” Tebsherany



1947 - 2024

   James “Jim” Tebsherany, 77, New Hartford, NY, passed away on July 14, 2024 at home with his loving children by his side.

   Jim was born in Utica to James and Lena (Finocchiaro) Tebsherany on February 21, 1947.  He married Kathy Mauro on April 4, 1970 and they share two daughters, Kristin and Richelle.  He later married Patricia Pettinelli on September 10, 1983 and they share one son, Michael and two step-daughters, LynnAnn and Diana.  He graduated from Thomas R. Proctor in 1969 and Herkimer County Community college in 1973 with an AA in Applied Science.  Jim had a love for people and it showed through his work.  As a Craps dealer at Turning Stone, he enjoyed making conversation with his players and had many regulars waiting for his table to be open.  He was also a self-employed videologist who brought beautiful memories to life through film.

Jim served his country honorably with the United States Navy from 1966 to 1969 and fought for our country in Vietnam.  During his time in the service, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal and the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal.  Jim was discharged honorably as a 100% disabled veteran and was a proud member of the American Legion Post 1376, New Hartford.

He was a Harley and car enthusiast.  He spent hours building model cars that he would display with pride.  He also loved detailing his prized vehicles and making them shine, something he shared with his children.  He loved capturing memories on film of his family and friends and bringing them to life for every family event.  In Jim’s early days, he was a staple at Dan-Dee Donuts in Utica, enjoying coffee conversation in the morning with the guys.  He was a former Cornhill Pop Warner coach and loved football.  In his downtime he could be found perfecting the lines in his lawn and telling everyone how to get just the perfect ones.

He is survived by his children Richelle (Dennis) Genge, Cape Coral, FL and Michael (Jennifer) Tebsherany, North Utica ; Step-daughters LynnAnn Pettinelli, Nashville, TN and Diana Pettinelli, New Hartford; Grandchildren Nicole (Stephen) Pigott, Amanda (Alan) Morehouse, Carissa (Kyle) Yankovich, Dennis (Nellie) Genge, all of Cape Coral, FL, Austin (Kim) Brown, Sylvan Beach, Olivia Tebsherany, Yorkville, Giovanni Pettinelli and Angelina Pettinelli, New Hartford; and his beautiful great-grandchildren Allison, Kendall, Emma, Sylvie, Kylie, Aurora, Vaida, Parker, Kristin, Austin Jr., Abigale, Alexis and Jackson; Sister Sandra (Tony) Showa, Utica; Brothers Rocco Tebsherany, Utica and Joseph (Gigi) Tebsherany, Naples, FL; a special neighbor, Bob Siriano, for his frequent visits, friendship and sneaky smoke breaks. He was predeceased by his parents, James and Lena Tebsherany and his beloved daughter, Kristin Brown. 

A funeral mass will be held at Our Lady of Lourdes, 2222 Genesee Street, Utica on Monday, July 22, 2024 at 10:00am, followed by a burial service at Calvary Cemetery in Utica.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Jim to his daughter, Kristin Tebsherany Browns’ memorial fund which helps families in need as they battle cancer and other life threatening illnesses.  Checks can be made payable to Richelle Genge, and mailed to 1221 NW 18th Ter, Cape Coral, FL 33993.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo Street.
