Gilda A. Guida

Gilda A. Guida, 95, a beloved resident of Rome, NY peacefully passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on December 23, 1927, in Herkimer, New York, to Dr. Nicola and Anna Labombarda. Gilda shared 50 wonderful years of marriagewith her late husband, Augustus (Gus) Guida, until his passing in March 2000.

   Gilda's professional journey was marked by dedication and service. She dedicated 35 years to Griffiss A B before retiring in 1986. Subsequently, she continued with a 28-year career with the Rome Public School System. Beyond her professional life, Gilda was a devoted Parishioner of St. John the Baptist Church in her town. One of her greatest joys was sharing her culinary talents with family and friends, particularly during the holiday season.

   Gilda is survived by her loving son, Augustus N. Guida, and his wife, Amy, as well as her grandchildren, Augustus S. Guida and his wife, Christine, and Jonathan N. Guida and his wife, Alexandria. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Augustus J. Guida and Camille Guida, along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Gilda was

preceded in death by her husband, her grandson Eric Guida, and her siblings Latricia Flemma, Dolly Stasio, and Michael Labombarda.

   Funeral services will be celebrated on Thursday, October 12, 2023at 11am at St. John the Baptist Church, 210 E. Dominick St, for a Mass of Christian Burial with celebrant Rev. Paul F. Angelicchio. Calling hours will be from 10-11am prior to the mass and internment will take place on St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Jude's Research.
