Frank N. Combopiano
Frank N. Combopiano, 88, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, December 17, 2020 in St. Luke’s Hospital.
He was born on May 15, 1932 in Rome the son of Joseph and Felicia (Bravo) Combopiano. On August 2, 1952 in St. John the Baptist Church he married Genevieve (Gen) Antoinette Laufer, a blessed union of 68 years.
Frank attended Rome Free Academy before enlisting in the US Army serving during the Korean Conflict. In 1958 he joined the City of Rome Fire Department, retiring 30 years later in 1988. He had a passion for golf and was a member of the Rome Country Club. He was proud of the “5 holes in one” that he scored. Frank will be missed by his golfing “buddies”. He was also a member of the Firemen’s Benevolent Fund.
Frank is survived by his beloved family, his wife Genevieve; a son Frank (Lisa) Combopiano of Erie, PA.; cherished grandchildren, Kathleen Giancotti, Joseph (Erica) Combopiano; great-grandchildren, Lillian and Mia Giancotti; a brother Charles Combopiano; sister-in-law, Josephine James; a brother-in-law, Anthony Laufer; Godchildren; nieces and nephews and a special cousin Frances (Joseph) Trapp. He was predeceased in death by his parents and a brother Anthony Combopiano; sisters-in-law, Helene Combopiano, Claire Combopiano and Marie Laufer.
Funeral services under the direction of the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St. will be celebrated in the spring.
