Ethel Nicolella

Ethel Nicolella, 93, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 with her loving family by her side.

Ethel was born in Rome on April 15, 1928, a daughter of Henry and Annice Hickman McLaren. On June 3, 1946, she married Patsy Nicolella, a blessed union of 38 years until his passing in 1984. Ethel was employed as a nurse’s aide at Rome Hospital and St. Luke’s, as well as working in daycare at the NYS School for the Deaf. She enjoyed boat cruises and going on the Church bus trips. Ethel was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.

Ethel is survived by three daughters, Nancy Evans of New Hartford, Lorraine Fasolo of Utica, and Carol (Daniel) Kennedy of Mississippi; 6 grandchildren; her sister Sheila Fazio of Rome; special nephew and niece Joseph and Jennifer Fazio; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Ethel was predeceased by her parents; her husband Patsy; and siblings Pauline McLaren, Annice DeCarolis, Richard McLaren, Henry McLaren, Carl McLaren and baby boy McLaren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, April 15, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 West Embargo Street with the Reverend Paul F. Angelicchio officiating. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in Highland Cemetery, Marcellus.
