Ernest B. Frasca

    


1933~2024

Ernest B. Frasca, 91, of Rome passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024.

    He was one of ten children born to Henry and Martha Campanaro Frasca.  Ernie was a graduate of Rome Free Academy Class of 1951.  He proudly served our country for four years as a Radarman in the Navy during the Korean War on two destroyers, the USS Mole and the USS Sigourney.  He continued his education at Mohawk Valley Technical School while he was employed as a civilian at G.A.F.B. as an Electronic Technician Supervisor at the Precision Measurement Equipment Lab retiring after 36 years. 

   Ernie was united in marriage to Marie Rizzo on August 18, 1956 at St. John the Baptist Church and had four children.  Ernie was a member of St. John the Baptist Church, the Toccolana Club, and the VFW.  He was an avid bowler, golfer, and Bocce player for 42 years.  He and his wife enjoyed traveling to many Naval Reunions and seeing old friends from all over the country.  He told many stories at family gatherings and holidays, and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

   Ernest is survived by his wife Marie of 68 years; sons Philip Frasca and Mark Frasca; daughters and son-law, Valerie Mata, Karen and Samuel Serrano; grandchildren Steven (Stacy) Mata, Stephanie (Daniel) Mata Mercado, Joseph Serrano, Elizabeth Serrano and two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Alexander Mata. He is also survived by three sisters-in-law Suzanna Frasca, Patricia Frasca, Sharon Rizzo-Eisinger; goddaughter Rochelle Santoro, and many nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his seven brothers Charles, Ricky (Lena), Luke (Antoinette), Albert (Anna), Joseph, James, Frank, and sisters Helen (Edward) Anania, Kathleen Frasca, son-in-law F. Howie Mata, brother-in-law James Rizzo, nephews David Frasca and Albert Frasca Jr.

   Our family extends a special thank you to Sue, JoAnne, and Lori Frasca for all their support and to Dr. Mian and Dr. Eldridge at the Wynn Hospital.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Baptist Church or the Humane Society of Rome.

    There are no calling hours and services will be private per Ernie’s wishes. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery.  Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Bottini Funeral Home, 120 W. Embargo St.
