Johann (Lopuszynski) Lopus, 89, of Terrace at Woodland, passed away on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 in Rome Hospital with her loving family by her side. She was born on September 18, 1923 in Pasike, NJ the daughter of Antoni and Aneilia Grzesiak. On November 11, 1945 in Rome she married Paul J. Lopus who passed away on January 28, 2008 after a marriage of 63 years. She had attended the Utica School of Beauty Culture. She had worked as a hair dresser for the Bon-ton Beauty Salon and in food service for the Rome Developmental Center. She had belonged to the Rome Polish Home, the South Rome Senior Citizens Center and the Transfiguration Church. Johann is survived by her beloved family; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Thomas Lacey of Ocala, FL, a son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Nancy Lopus of Rome, cherished grandchildren and their spouses; Bryan and Stephanie Lopus, Renee and Daniel Lamorte, Mark Lacey, Brittany Lacey and Brooke Lacey, great grandchildren, Sophia and Scarlett LaMorte, a sister and brother-in-law, Janet-Holtz-Ringrose and W. Robert Ringrose of Tupper Lake. She was predeceased by a brother and sister-in-law Joseph and Helen Banner Grzesiak. The family would like to extend their thanks and appreciation to the staff of Terrace at Woodlawn Assisted Living Center for their kind and caring support, also to the staff at Rome Hospital ER and the staff of 2East. These are all special people that made mom’s final hours as comfortable as possible. Funeral services will be held Monday morning at 11:00 at Transfiguration Church for a Mass of Christian Burial with the Rev. Joseph Sestito officiating. Interment will be in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call on Sunday from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Bottini Funeral Home.
